Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst. - Henri Cartier-Bresson
Hi, I’m Kevin Brose, a fine art, landscape and nature photographer based in Colorado. My primary focus is the Colorado Plateau, specifically southern Utah and central/western Colorado. My photography experience has spanned fifty years.
I received my first “real” camera in 1973 (a Pentax Spotmatic F, for those familiar with vintage cameras) and have been shooting ever since. My photographic journey has included some meandering roads of ups and downs, briefly including the portrait and wedding field, before focusing on landscapes.
My zeal for landscape photography developed after my first exposure to the vistas of southern Utah. Since that time my goal has been to capture the ever-changing landscape and present it to the viewer in a way that imparts the spirit of the place - the “sense of place”. Creating images that evoke this emotional response is not always easy but is extremely rewarding when achieved.
It is my sincere desire that the images presented in these galleries convey the sense of place of these magnificent lands. Hopefully these images will encourage the viewer to get out and enjoy the splendor of the land in a personal way. There is no substitute for being there. Always enjoy responsibly and adhere to the “leave no trace” mindset. Allow others to find the land in the same condition as you did.
Please feel free to drop me a line with questions or comments.
Thanks,
Kevin
Gear
Most photographers are “gear heads” to some degree (some definitely more than others!) and at some point the topic of gear comes up. To those that are interested, here’s a summary of what’s in my camera pack.
For several years I used µ4/3rds gear but in 2020 I made the switch to APS-C, specifically Fujifilm cameras and lenses. Making the switch was the right move for me, I find the Fuji X Series cameras a joy to use and the lenses are superb.
The current collection includes:
Fuji X-T5 bodies with hand grips
10-24 f/4
16-55 f/2.8
50-140 f/2.8
100-400 f/4.5-5.6
70-300 f/4-5.6
1.4X TC
Colorado Tripod 2-Series Centennial CF tripod
Breakthrough Filters X4 CPL polarizers
Mindshift Rotation 180 Pro backpack
For raw processing I use Capture One. For additional post, if needed, I use Affinity Photo 2 and Topaz Photo AI.
