Inspiration
Photography helps people to see. - Berenice Abbott
The genre of the environmental portrait is wide-ranging. It is also not new. While the concept of placing a solitary figure into a majestic landscape is also not new, current work by talented photographers has taken it to new heights. Many others have gone before me, notably Michele Sons and her brilliant Feminine Landscape series. Her superb images were a creative revelation and motivated me to try something similar, yet hopefully still unique. My goal was to create a set of images that would provide inspiration – inspiration to pray, to meditate, to contemplate, to see the wonder of creation, to enjoy the natural beauty of our world.
I cannot present this series of images without recognizing Jess, who was my associate for this project. From the beginning she embraced the creative vision and was a superlative model. Without her assistance none of these images would exist. Thanks, Jess, I will always appreciate your teamwork in making the vision a reality.
